Chicken Project

In 2014, CCUg undertook a major project to provide women in the communities we serve with Kuroiler chickens as a means of helping them establish and maintain a reliable source of household income.   With funding from Nourish International, CCUg purchased 430 Kuroiler chicken eggs and incubated them through hatching. Kuroiler chickens are quick to mature, and deliver a high yield of eggs to provide a good source of income.

When the chicks were 2 months old, they were distributed among 100 women in Wanyange, Magamaga, Wabulungu and Nakalanga villages in Jinja and Mayuge districts.  Prior to distribution, CCUg staff provided the women with training in how to rear and care for the chickens.
